    A Saturday night
"Oh my god! I need to have it's babies!" she gasps!  A bit curious I turned to look where my companion was staring wide eyed in wonderment.  Suspended before me I see a enormous iron statue of a dragonfly?  With a raise my eyebrow I turn back to my companion and calmly ask,
"does your husband know?" A giggles escapes her as she adopts a devilish smile
"dragonfly's are sort of my fetish.  You've seen my tattoo right?" as she twists in her seat to point at the location under her shirt where her inked skin lies.
"fetish?" I ask with a questioning look on my face.  Adopting the demeanor of a fellow conspirator she leans close and breathes
"There are some things you really don't want know", through her widening grin.

I sit in an outside terrace, oblivious to my beer while absorbed the collection of characters displayed on my screen. I'm dragged from the hypnotic glow of my screen by the thick and enticing feminine accent that can only be acquired from being raised in France.  I look to my left and notice an attractive lady sitting at the table next to me. She has a slightly disappointed look on her face as the waiter says
"No, sorry we don't have that" and walks back inside the bar.
I lean to over and ask
"I'm sorry to intrude, but could not help but notice your accent, are you from France or Quebec" knowing that the question lacks any vestige of sophistication but unable to come up with anything better on such a short notice.
"France, the outskirts of Paris" she informed me with her intoxicating accent.
"I've always wanted to visit Paris" I state "But never made it past the Pyrenees"
"But Spain is beautiful is it not" she counters while flashing a smile.
"It is, there really isn't a place like it, the fusion of art and architecture, and how friendly the people are!"
"Friendly yes, but they have quite the 'party' mentality" she states as she draws me in with her linguistic intonations
"I tried in vain to keep up with them, but they party until 6 in the morning.  THEN go to the after hours clubs" Her response is a giggle, that some how captures her French accent in an entirely too enticing of a way.
"But I have to say, While Madrid may have no peer when it comes to the party scene, San Francisco has enough charm to entice her fair share"
"Oh San Francisco is lovely, I truly enjoy it here" she
    says.
"So what have you seen so far?" I ask.
"Oh lots, the opportunity came a few years ago to work here so we took it, now we live just down the street." she stated while pointing the well kempt gentleman approaching her table carrying a bottle of red wine and 2 glasses.

    --------------------------------------------------

"Will you chug with me?" the attractive lady asked while turning to the gentlemen sitting to her right
"Ah, the sweet things that you say to me." is his reply.

on another side note does anybody know what these mean?

    Ich stricke gerne socken!

    Baaam euda! (oida)

    Geh ma krochn!

    Schicht is pflicht!

    Ich Dusche Nackt! (Nackig)

this girl I meet at a bar swore that these were phrases that I should use when I meet women at clubs here. But she was laughing a bit too hard when she was teaching me these phrases.

I feel very old right now. On a completely unrelated note, did you know that the drinking age in Austria is 16? ya, I didn't either.

will I've completed my first day in Vienna and I have to say that it's breath taking! I've only spend some time in the city center so far, but it reminds me very much of Hapsburg Madrid (the Hapsburg's ruled both Spain and Austria). Strolling around the city I've stumbled across so many churches and random statues that I ended up getting lost from chasing after the next one. I have to say that the three hours that it took me to find my way back to recognizable territory was still time well spent. Here are a few pictures that I took while on my walk

And heres one for my motorcycle obsessed friends ^_^ the Honda CBR 125, I street legal toy bike!

I have safely returned to Japan, and I must say the new airline I choose was huge improvement over United (who I took last time). The tickets came out to be about the same for UA verses ANA, but there is no comparing the quality. Basically imagine flying British airways for the price of United. Each seat had it's own tv, and the 10 in-flight movies started when you wanted to watch them. There were also news feeds (but only in Japanese) and the remote control when turned sideways worked as a game controller for the built in games. The food was still airline food, but it was all Japanese food, so the novelty of it made up for the lack of quality. And the best part was the seats behind mine were labeled “Emergency Rations”. I kept imagining a built in Donnar party clause to somebodies plane ticket ^_^.

I have to also take a second to comment about the hotel, I'm in. “HOLY SHIT!” First off the location is great, it shares the park that surrounds Tokyo Tower. I'm on the 29th floor and my view is breath taking (I see rainbow bridge, not Tokyo tower). I use the executive elevator, which does not allow you to enter in the numbers, rather I scan my door key and it knows the floor, cool, but it also means that my co worker can not knock on my door in the morning, he has to call. The room is beautiful and about the same size of my studio in SF. Needless to say this is easily the ices hotel room I've ever had (although the 12th century castle I stayed in beats this place on ambiance.

Well I need to go to bed, so I'll type more later

    Back to Japan!
So after a little bit of internal bickering it has been decided that I am going to support a new client at work. Normally getting a new client that I have to worry about isn't much cause for celebration (outside of the increased ability for my employer to continue to pay my income), I mean each project has it's interesting parts, and I do actually enjoy learning about different marketing bits, and how to apply them with my applications, but the bottom line is, a new client means that I will have more work to do on my already over burdened week (I would state work week, but really a full week and a work week are currently the same thing). But this client is different, this client is located in Japan. So next week I will have to go on site to meet with this client. So next week I will be heading back to Japan for a week. I've already bookended the trip so that gives me a weekend free in Tokyo. Needless to say I'm absolutely ecstatic! Robert, has taken this opportunity to have a vacation as well and is meeting me in Japan. So, despite the previous few weeks driving me to almost quit, I love this job.

    to give a quick update
So I went on vacation to Japan, which was awesome and I have many stories and pleasant memories of my trip, but sense my return, I've done 97 hour work weeks, yes NINETY SEVEN hours a work week! Followed up with having my grandfather pass away. Spent my Christmas at his funeral, where I broke down when my Grandmother gave me a hug and started to cry while saying “I can't believe he's in that box”. Spent a very emotional holiday in New Mexico. Came back to work, no more 97 hour work weeks, but I was still spending most of my time working, then got sick over the last weekend. I had to stay sober for new years, because of the meds I was on (alcohol and pain killers don't mix), then spent the first of the year in bed shivering because I was out too late the night before and had a relapse. And to top it off, I have already broken my new years resolution to no longer kill myself for work, by working until 12:30 last night -_-. So I apologize to all those that I have been ignoring over the last few weeks.

I apologize for the brevity of this post, and I will have to fill everybody in on what I've been doing for the last few day later. I do have to say that I lack the time to post because I'M IN FUCKING JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!

With my Japanese trip just around the corner I've been looking into places to stay. So far I've not been too worries about it, worst case scenario is I stay at a capsule hotel. So I've been looking into them and I have to say they are pretty interesting. I had always planned on staying in one for at least one night, just for the experience, but after looking into them I may end up just staying in one for most of my trip (outside of when I'm staying in the hot spring ^_^) The hotel is located in an excellent location right next to Akihabara ^_^ and is only $35 a night ^_^.

    what I should do.
It's interesting what people will do just because it's what they “should” do. It's interesting because that's whats causing me to still sit in my cubicle. My project is due to QA tomorrow. Should it be a day late, my job will not be in danger, and neither will my project. I'm not fulfilling my word by staying, nor am I being honorable by finishing by the deadline. Meeting my project deadlines are simply just something I “should” do. So here I sit, past one in the morning still in my cubicle, when I should be at home in bed.

Ship Abandoned in the Desert )

This picture really got me thinking about how fast our world is changing. While I agree the only constant is change, some times it makes me sad to think of what is disappearing for that change.

    Author, Robert Jordan died today

While I have never met him, his world, so carefully crafted and intricaty created invited me in to get lost with in it's wordy thickets. I would spend lazy days enveloped in his detailed descriptions, seeing the unbelievable and heroic acts unfold before me. I grew up reading those books, taking on the stories as part of my childhood, lost in the world of his creation even when his books were closed and put away. While the last chapter of his life has been written, his world that I have so eagerly accepted his invitation to, will continue.
